Two climbers, one workshop, and a shared belief in making things properly.

Ignis BOSCO didn’t begin with tools or timber, but with climbing. Over twenty years ago, we both found our way onto the rock, and it quickly became a defining part of our lives. That shared passion eventually drew us north to Yorkshire to the gritstone, the landscape, and the community that felt like home from the start.

With that move came a new chapter. One half of ignis BOSCO built a career as a bespoke cabinet maker, crafting kitchens, furniture, and one-off pieces designed to last. Alongside this, a home climbing board sparked an idea: to make our own wooden holds. What began as a simple experiment soon grew into a deeper exploration of woodturning and before long, our space was filled with bowls, each one different from the last.

Working with wood every day also meant one thing: offcuts. Too good to throw away, too full of character to ignore. That’s where the next step began, chopping boards, made from what would otherwise have been wasted. They quickly found homes of their own, and something started to take shape.

Then came fire.

What started as curiosity picking up a pyrography tool to see what might happen, became something more. A new layer of creativity, a new way to work with the material. Lines, patterns, and markings burned into the surface, each one permanent, each one unique.

And from that, ignis BOSCO was formed.

Today, we work from our Yorkshire workshop and home, creating pieces that follow the grain of the wood and the rhythm of the process. Nothing is rushed, nothing is mass-produced. Each item is made by hand, shaped with care, and designed to be used, lived with, and kept for years to come.
