Home.

This piece brings together two things at the heart of Ignis BOSCO: honest Yorkshire timber and artwork rooted in the landscape we call home. Handcrafted from carefully selected ash, the board is shaped, sanded, and finished entirely by hand, allowing the natural grain to guide the final form.

The focal point is a freehand pyrography illustration of the iconic Cow & Calf rocks on Ilkley Moor. Burned directly into the surface, the design celebrates one of Yorkshire’s most recognisable landmarks, a place woven into local memory, stories, and identity. No templates, no stencils; just steady hands, patience, and the slow, deliberate process of pyrography.

Built for everyday use yet made to be treasured, this board balances function with artistry. It’s a piece that carries both the character of the ash and the spirit of the moor, making it a standout example of our approach to handcrafted wooden goods: practical, personal, and deeply connected to place.

Finish.

Each board is finished by hand using a high‑quality, food‑safe oil that nourishes the ash and enhances its natural grain. The oiling process is slow and deliberate — worked into the surface in layers to protect the wood while keeping its tactile, organic feel. This finish not only brings out the depth and warmth of the timber, but also ensures the board is ready for everyday use, offering durability without compromising the character of the piece.
